The calling...

Conversations, usually over a glass of wine with friends, and a road trip through Oregon led to the formation of the L’appel Wines project in 2021.

Montreal (2017) was where my wine interest was first sparked. A collective of like-minded somms led me into their world and from there the floodgates opened. L’appel ‘the calling’ is a nod to these people, the chance meetings and circumstances that have led me to my vocation.

Immersing myself into the vineyard with roles with notable producers in the Mornington Peninsula and Tasmania has developed my appreciation for cool climate wines with Pinot Noir being my greatest passion.

I currently source fruit from a couple of very high-quality vineyards in the Coal Valley & Huon Valley. I farm what I make and as such the wines become a creative response to my day to day.

In conjunction with my Tasmanian projects, a growing interest in alternate varieties has led me to collaborate with growers in central Victoria to explore varieties (of mainly Italian lineage) that align with our changing climate and soils.

The rhythm of the vineyard is what gives me the most joy (and heartache). No one season is ever the same and the challenge is to craft a wine that makes your eyes POP!

These are wines with made with passion & purpose, we hope you enjoy - rip in.
